MEET THE TEAM

  • Owner & Head Coach

My background in athletics and training started as a small child where I had a natural affinity to sport.  I ended up focusing on soccer and played at a high level through high school, where a series of knee injuries and chronic pain forced me to give it up before college.  It didn't take long for me to realize that if I couldn't be the athlete, I was going to have to somehow be on the other end of the game.  After attending school for Exercise Science, I dove in to the world of personal training, and eight years later here I am.

On the other side of my story, my journey through active alcoholism to recovery began as a 17 year old when I had my first drink. It became a problem soon after, as I filled the void in my life caused by the departure of athletics with something new that I quickly became very good at - consuming alcohol.  Alcoholism has shown up in generations past in my family so it came as no surprise when it started to quickly take me down a very long and very dark road.  In the summer of 2018, after a string of 16 hospital visits in 22 months, my family and I finally got me into rehab and on the road to recovery.

My sobriety date stands at 1/19/19, and although there have been all sorts of positive influences and key components to my sobriety, one thing that has stood paramount since the beginning is fitness.  My workouts were a healthy coping mechanism.  A moving meditation.  A physical expression of internal strife, grief, anger, love, happiness and joy.  Sometimes all at once. They were a way for me to redirect my energy and emotion into something positive.  I had decades of bottled up shit, and while I have a wonderful therapist and an amazing support group who I talk to and lean on constantly, I've found it most therapeutic when I can not only speak my soul but physically express it as well.

The link between physical activity and recovery, depression, anxiety and a host of other mental health issues are well documented and well researched, and it is my aim with my business to not only help you reach your physical health goals, but to also, through physical activity and resistance training, encourage growth and healing internally, helping you to become the best version of yourself both inside and out.
